Story was a beautiful baby girl born on July 15, 2009. She was healthy, content, and a blessed addition to our family. If only we knew how little time we would have with her.
She passed away on July 25, 2009 with no real explanation as to what had caused her death.
She was happily nursing when we both dosed off. Shortly after I went in the room to nurse Story, my husband peeked his head in to see if we were sleeping. Instead of a content, sleeping infant he found a horrific scene. Story was barely breathing. He quickly shook me awake and I performed CPR while my husband begged the 911 operator to make the ambulance come to us faster.
We held onto hope and prayed (as we flew to the hospital), that Story would be alive when we got there. The nurses met us at the door and escorted us into a tiny room with two small couches. I didn't even have to hear them tell me . . . . She was gone. No amount of CPR, medical intubation, or defibrillation (shocking her heart) could bring her back. Our beautiful ten-day-old baby girl had gone to be with Jesus.
Losing Story is the most painful thing we have ever experienced - an absolutely, devastatingly, unexpected shock. We have been going crazy with the pain and ache we are feeling. Our comfort is that we feel Gods calling to turn this pain into something for His glory. No parent loses their child in vain - God has a plan for everyone's lives. Story is in heaven with Him now . . . and the drastic change this has brought to our lives is meant for a purpose. We will forever keep Story's memory alive.
